I am the speed of sound

Here are exact visual representations of the tornado dreams (always multiple ones on the horizon) that haunt me all the time, the last of which was two nights ago tell me what it all means please:

Like I need some new direction

Quick post, but file this under Oh yeah, I live here now, don't I?:

This morning I had a dream that I was in downtown DC and there was a terrorist attack and bombs all over the city. People were going nuts and running around, chaos, buildings collapsing etc, and I was trying to figure out what to do/where to go. At some point, we heard that NYC was under attack too. Sometime during this, I called my mom and she said "You need to get out of there" and the end of the dream, I was left to figure out if I was going to walk to Virginia and beyond. I was ready to make that walk.

So yeah, a nice anxiety dream to ring in the weekend. After that and a day of potentially dealing with another huge proposal, I shall be going out to drink now. Goodnight!

HRC

FYI, last night I had a dream where I was campaigning for Hillary and I was kind of in an advisory role. As I am wont to do. She was awesome. She also hit on me. As she is probably wont to do. So I called her a scalawag. Yes, I actually called Hillary Clinton a scalawag...for trying to get me in bed in my dream. She just gave me a rogue-ish grin and said she had to go win Ohio or this was all over. I wished her luck and told her win one for the ladies. The end.

ps. I'd so totally hit that, btw.

This is a new year. This is a new year. This is a new year.

Shhh

(Do not tell anyone, but I had a rather..interesting..dream about Sue Bird last night. My love for her is no secret, but when The Agent was getting up, I was like, oh man, I just was having the greatest dream about...um, basketball. It's ok though, she's on my List* so no foul. Ha!?)

*Remember: Every couple is allowed a List containing 3 celebrity people which, if ever given the chance, they are allowed to sleep with sans relationship repercussion. They discuss this in Chapter 25. Mine currently includes the aforementioned Bird, Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace (the viper pilot, not the actress), and Maura Tierney. I haven't revisited The Agent's list with her lately so I'll post hers when I know.

ETA: Mrs V, is this what you're suggesting:

Maura Tierney +

Starbuck =

Sue Bird?

Hmmm, what would my therapist say about that? Oh right, she'd say I like the hotties, aww yeah!

Habeus Corpus

p.s. I forgot to mention that I had a wacky dream last night where I was hanging out with the Supreme Court justices and I was talking to Ruth Bader Ginsberg. It went something like this: "Your honor, how does it feel not having another woman on the court, didn't you hang with Justice O'Connor? I can't imagine having to spend time with Scalia, how do you do it?" Unfortunately, I don't recall her answers before we all had to hike up this steep narrow hill at the top of which was a very small hatch door going up into some room. Very claustrophobic. The end.

June bug vs hurricane

We had an open house this past Sat hoping to lure people into our humble yurt so that they might buy it. As a result, spent much of last week after I returned from NO cleaning. Now I'm neither messy nor OCD, but I have to say, trying to keep a place looking spotless on the off chance some stranger wants to peek through your drawers is harder than you might think. And it's not like we have lots of stuff here either, we rented a storage unit so have lots of things there, but now I'm getting angsty over stupid stuff like god-forbid a dirty cup in the sink. It ain't right I say. It isn't until you clean like a crack whore that you realize how much dog hair two black dogs generate. I have even considered shaving them. So I had to take them to the dog park for two hours to get them and myself out of the house. The Agent went into work (she's a ninja these days, cracking cases and busting bad guys). I don't even want to tell you how many hours I spent on Fri dealing with lawn/landscaping issues. I used to be a big fan of grass (yeah, you know me), but damn. Someone please buy our own private piece of suburban hell soon? Great house for a typical Midwestern god-fearing family of mom, dad, 2.5 kids + dog with minivan. Cheap.

Tonight I went up to the casino to get out of the house and feed my last remaining vice (yes, gone are all the drugs, sex, and rock/roll; I'm a middle-aged hedonist living in the Midwest, what else is there?). Luckily I hit a nice roll and came out $240 ahead which works out to $60/hr, which is more than my current salary, sister. When gambling and watching the WNBA are your two current vices, it's time to admit your lameness.

Admission: One the way home, I decided to use part of my stash to schedule a visit with my friendly therapist. I miss her -- I've been saving up 6 months worth of shit to process so why not? I don't think I'm going to mention the gambling part - frankly, complete honesty with your therapist is over-rated, I say. I'll just stick with my existential apathy and increasing cynicism - that should take up the hour.

(I might also touch upon the paranoid dream I had this morning in which this woman was an agent of the government (not FBI or CIA or anything, some agency even more evil and nefarious and above those two - I love my Agent, but I don't trust her bosses) and she had decided to tap my cell phone so I spent much of the dream trying to figure out 1) why and 2) what agency. I even grilled TA when she woke up to ask her if there was some other secret gov agency out there that it might be. Needless to say, I got no answers which simply confirmed my suspicions. Maybe I'm in the Matrix and just now realizing. Woo! Crazy train, all aboard!)

What else?

I learned that I apparently am able to make a pretty mean potato salad. Given that I hate mayo (and similar non-sweet white substances), I consider this an accomplishment. The Agent likes her PS so I made up a batch. Suzy Homemaker, watch out! I also fried some chicken. This is what passes for entertainment on a Sat night.

That's about it. I'm eagerly awaiting my new Chili Peppers cd from Amazon (sometimes I feel like Amazon is just the internet's Wal-mart and feel bad supporting it, but really, I saved like $10 bucks on this double-CD - a deal you can't find in stores, people). In the meantime, I've been listening quite a bit to Tegan and Sara. Music, like culture, comes slow to the middle of the country so I just discovered them recently. The curse we Red Staters must endure for affordable real estate and wide open spaces. U R Jus Jellus!

I know you plan out everything that you want to say
I wish that we didn't have to go about things this way
I love the rock and roll, I love the rock and roll
don't get so uptight, don't get so uptight
go, go away
tell me you love me like you think you want to be loved
pull on my hand and say, please just let's make it this way
I love the rock and roll, I love the rock and roll
don't get so uptight, don't get so uptight
go, go away

Weekend

We spent a nice Saturday camping and fishing at a lake near here, the weather was perfect and it was a full moon. Then I woke up at 230am to distant lightening and thunder. I checked the radar on my phone and saw a huge bunch of thunderstorms about an hour west of us and we both decided that we would rather pack up and hike the mile or two out than deal with 2 wet dogs, wet stuff, and a muddy path the next morning. Needless to say, when we finally got out and waited in the car for the storm to pass and got home/showered etc, it was 530am. Yesterday was a lazy day for sure. However, it was good to get out and the Agent and I had a nice conversation and all is well (apology accepted plus a good discussion). The dogs were beat after all that hiking and swimming and running around. They slept all day yesterday while I watched football and WNBA (Lindsay was a liability unfortunately as the Sun lost) and then my Chiefs win. A perfect Sunday is the morning paper and football on all day with naps interspersed.

Other things:

With all the rain we've been getting and it's still warm, my garden and flowers/plants are still going crazy. The best basil I've had ever and my peppers will kick your peppers' asses. I mowed Fri night which got me into my zen zone.

My friend, L, is coming to town for a month..she had just moved to New Orleans in July to start a job at Tulane. She's spending time here b/c they gave her an office to work out of and also the Algerian Fool (her bf) is back here. Will be good to see her and perhaps get some camping in with her while she's here.

I had a dream last night (will spare you details), but one memorable line from it was me saying to someone "But you know I have a fetish for high heels"...which, while true, I had actually forgotten. So yeah.

Finally, a song from this album has been going through my head for weeks. I am going to pull it out and put it here in hopes that it goes away.

Putting all the vegetables away
that you bought at the grocery store today.
And it goes fast, you think of the past.

Suddenly everything has changed.

Driving home the sky accelerates.
And the clouds all form a geometric shape.
And it goes fast, you think of the past.

Suddenly everything has changed.

Putting all the clothes you washed away,
As you're folding up the shirts you hesitate.
Then it goes fast, you think of the past.

Suddenly everything has changed.
