Riding on the Metro*

Just for you, a chance to experience your own real-life Metro commute with me. Yeah, how gay is that? Very I say. So follow me as I navigate but one tiny segment of my commute at rush hour on this lovely July day. I mention in the video worrying about you getting "car sick" because you know, walking with the camera is totally like riding in a car. Oh screw it, you try to be all on your toes on Friday. I'm so tired, I don't even care that I probably sound like a total dork. Just tell me you love me no matter what and we'll call it a day, yeah?

Enjoy your commute:

* Hello, if you don't love this Berlin song, I don't even know you anymore.

Dude, THAT WAS AWESOME! Really, I enjoyed myself. Besides the fact that I DO frequently get carsick, I loathe public transportation. Too many opportunities for strangers to attempt to engage me in small talk or other uncomfortable situations.

But actually, I enjoyed riding with you! Got a glimpse of your gay hand. And I think you really freaked out that lady in the pink on the first train. Especially when you followed her after you got off. Scaring strangers is always fun for one and all.

360: That woman was the only one who really noticed me filming and she just kind of chuckled at me ("damn Midwestern tourists!"). I didn't realize I was all up in her business so much. Oh well, not like I'll ever see her again! (Unless she's wearing a cape). You know my goal for tomorrow though is to get me some LJ footage. I will make that happen. I'll settle for (shhh) Becky Hammon, but I'm all about that tall awesome Aussie!

Oh please do! She's running around your Dumb City looking adorable in her black nail polish! How she pulls off the things she does and still looks smokin' is beyond me.

I appreciate your first hand reports ahead of time!

It’s always comforting to know that the subway experience is the same all over the world (well, except for the varying degrees of urine smell -- hello, Paris, I’m talking to you). No one talks, no one makes eye contact, no one smiles. Get me there, get me off. Hallelujah for the iPod.

p.s. It’s also somewhat comforting to know that everyone’s casual Friday clothes look ill-fitting and rumpled by the end of the work week.

Ms. Snarker: The DC metro often smells like burning pee, especially at Metro Center. I call it Eww de Dumb City.

If you had done that on the NYC subway, someone would have punched you out within a minute. For reals.

I was thinking the same thing as Vivvy!

viv & Mrs: Why are you living there again? Can't a tourist take a video without getting stabbed? I say ditch that damn city and move back to your country estate, sweeties. You can grow your hair out and can tomatoes and smoke dope to your heart's content!
