One night in Iowa, he and I in a borrowed car
went driving in the summer, promises at every star
out in the distance I could hear some people laughing
I felt my heart beat back a weekends' worth of sadness
There was a farm house that had long since been deserted
we stopped and carved our thoughts into the wooden surface
we thought just for an instant we could see the future
we thought for once we knew what really was important
Coming up close
everything sounds like welcome home
Come home
and oh, by the way
don't you know that I could make
a dream that's barely half the way come true
I wanted to say --
but anything I could have said
I felt somehow that you already knew
We got back in the car and listened to a Dylan tape
We drove around the fields until it started getting late
I went back to my hotel room on the highway
And he just got back in his car and drove away -- 'Til Tuesday

Sweetie, you're making me think of that crazy hair she had while still with 'til tuesday...how was the concert?
It was lovely and minimal; acoustic. Played songs from most of her albums. Nice way to wind down on a Sun night.
And trust me, at one point I was staring at her long and (very) straight hair wondering how in the world she ever made it stand up like she did back in the days. Then I remembered my own experimentation with hairspray in 1990 and wondered no more.
One night in Central PA, she and I in a borrowed car
went driving in the summer, promises at every bar
out in the distance I could hear some cows mooing
I felt my heart beat back a weekends' worth of hangovers
There was a farm house that had long since been deserted
we stopped and carved our thoughts into the each other’s thighs
we thought just for an instant we could see the Virgin Mary
we thought for once we would make it rich selling her photos
Coming up close
everything sounds like “well, golly-G wilikers!”
Gol-l-ly!
and oh, by the way
don't you know that I could make
a girl come at least half the way, it’s true!
I wanted to say --
but anything I could have said
I felt somehow that you already did it [slut that you are!]
We got back in the car and listened to a Meatloaf tape
We drove around the fields until it started getting late
I went back to my dorm room on the campus
And she just got back in her parent’s Volvo and drove away -- 'Til Tam ... (with apologies to 'Til Tuesday)
